PACE Gram Vigyan Kendras (SGVKs) initiative will provide financial/technical support to gram panchayat and other rural samiti bodies to set up the SGVK to support, encourage, and would provide them with necessary infrastructure facilities and other value-added services to setup a centre for excellence in the village. By adopting a village and a Govt. aided school with other partners and setup rural science centres across the country.

Overview

The SPACE Gram Vigyan Prachar Kendras (SGVPKs – Village Science Centres) aim to revolutionize science education and innovation in India’s Aspirational Districts, aligning with NITI Aayog’s vision for inclusive development. These centers will act as rural hubs for scientific learning, providing hands-on experiences, infrastructure, and technical support to students, educators, and local communities. By partnering with Gram Panchayats, government-aided schools, and rural bodies, SGVPKs will bridge the gap between urban and rural scientific opportunities and foster a spirit of inquiry and innovation. This initiative focuses on STEM education, capacity building, and skill development, contributing to sustainable growth and empowering underserved regions to participate actively in India’s scientific progress.

Objectives

Establish Rural Science Centers: Set up state-of-the-art science centers in villages to serve as hubs for scientific learning, experimentation, and knowledge dissemination.
Empower Local Governance Bodies: Collaborate with Gram Panchayats and rural institutions by providing financial, technical, and infrastructural support to establish and maintain these centers.
Foster Community Engagement: Create inclusive spaces for students, educators, and the community to engage in hands-on science activities, promoting scientific temper and sustainable development in rural areas.
